John Haldenwang

Vocals/ Guitar/ Harp

Known as a hard hitting blues rocker, John combines his influences of Texas, British and Southern Rock/blues to create a unique sound guaranteed to set the house on fire. John is currently the Vocalist, Guitar and Harp player for The “Raisin Cain Band”. John has played with several local and regional bands including “The Highway 61 Blues Band” and “the Jake Haldenwang Band”.

John has been a driving force in the local and regional music scene for several years and has performed on stages from the Florida Gulf Coast to New York City and from the NC Outer Banks to Memphis and every place in between. John has shared the stage with legends such as Tommy Castro, Elvin Bishop, Leon Russell, Artimus Pyle, Moreland & Arbuckle, Robin Rogers, the Swamp Doctors, WSNB, The Contagious Blues Band and Zack Rosicka, just to name a few.

Always delivering a passion filled and electrifying performance, John’s rich vocals are filled with soul and passion, while his sonic tones are reminiscent of influences such as Rory Gallagher, Billy Gibbons, Albert Collins and of course Johnny Winter.

John’s love for Rock n’ Roll started in the mid 60’s with the English invasion. It wasn’t long till a performance by the Rolling Stones of ‘Little Red Rooster” and John knew he had found the music that would become his passion. John found himself gravitating to rock that leaned heavily on blues. The eventual discovery of traditional roots blues gave John a deeper appreciation for what motivated some of the greatest blues rockers such as Eric Clapton, Steve Marriot, Duane Allman and Rory Gallagher. With this foundation John has developed his own fusion of rock and blues, and taken it to the next level .

John and the Band are currently in the studio writing new material for their next release. Check your local listings to see when John and the boys will be burning a path to your local music hall.

Chuck Lindbergh-Gore

Lead Guitar / Vocals

What started out as a fill in bass position in a 9th grade talent show, has turned into a journey that includes stints in several popular regional bands.  Most notable of these was the mid-2000s classis rock band Phor Play from Statesville, NC. Through it all, Chuck has stayed true to his classic rock roots whether it's been an alternative, roots, or even R&B project.

"My first concert was The Doobie Brothers back when I was 9 years old. It still has an impact even today". Chuck is excited about joining The Raising Cain Band because it is an oppurtunity to finally play the kind of music he's always wanted to play but never had the chance.

John Ptrenko

Keyboards/Guitar/Vocals

A native of West Virginia, John describes himself as “a citizen of the world with no fixed abode.” He claims first dibs on various couches and futons throughout the eastern US and Canada.

John’s first exposure to music was the Beatles when he was a child. He discovered such artists as Led Zeppelin, Rush, The Who, Yes and Peter Gabriel shortly afterward and was hooked for life. “I wanted to be Geddy Lee when I grew up,” he jokes. But when he got his first bass, the joke turned serious, and since 1985, he’s been a full-time band gypsy and student of rock and roll. He has performed on stages from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Tampa, Florida.

Although progressive rock remains his true love, John listens to and takes cues from music sources ranging from death metal to country. He became a vocalist quite by accident, and has worked to turn his voice into the sharply-honed sonic instrument it is today, cutting effortlessly through the mix with his stratospheric harmonies and leads. This, coupled with the distinctive growl of his bass and his aggressive playing style, tells the listener from the start that he’s on a mission. You’ll see.

Photo of Bret Hamrick - Drummer for The Raisin Cain Band

Bret Hamrick

Drums

Bret grew up playing in symphonic bands, orchestras, and marching bands all through school. He found the drum set, fell in love and started playing rock music in his late teens. He joined his first rock & roll band at nineteen, covering famous bands such as the Beatles and The Who, and he never looked back!

The early 80's found Bret playing with the three piece power trio No Control, in Marietta, Ga., but he put his passion for playing on the back burner and took the 90's off to focus on raising his family.

After moving to the Charlotte area in 2001, he rekindled his love for playing, and with his brother on bass, formed a popular blues rock trio, Silver Hammer. They performed regularly around the Concord area. After the demise of that project the Hamrick brothers joined forces with Moon Rooster. They were an original adult contemporary group playing very symphonic type songs, with twin brothers playing dual synthesizers. Huge melodic chorus' with deep personal lyrics. Moon Rooster was invited to join a major label development showcase, unfortunately due to personal issues Bret was forced to leave the band.

After a three year layoff he has found a home with RCB! With his love for the hard rock/heavy metal of the late 60's and 70's, The Raisin Cain Band has proven to be a perfect fit. The energy level and intensity level now in the band is something to be experienced! You will not find a person who puts more heart into his playing than Bret!

Come out and experience it for yourself and Join the Up-Rising with RCB!
